Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Discipline Lead Transmission Line Engineer I or II (Electrical or Structural) to be based in either our Princeton, New Jersey; our Fort Mill, South Carolina; or our Greenwood Village, Colorado location.

Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of schedules, budgest and technical proposals for transmission line projects.

  • Leading team of electrical and structural engineers performing detailed design of transmission line projects including:

  • Preparation of documents for permit applications.

  • Preparation of civil, structural and electrical calculations and design documents using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER and other software tools.

  • Preparation of specifications for procrement of structures and materials for construction.

  • Interface with clients and construction personnel.

  • Construction specifications and drawings.

  • Field walk-downs.

Minimum Requirements

For a Discipline Lead I:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Electrical or Structural Engineering and 8 years overall experience in design of structures or electrical power systems including 6 years of experience in design of high voltage transmission lines for utilities in the U. S. and 4 years of supervisory experience in providing technical guidance to project staff on complex projects or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience.

For a Discipline Lead II:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Electrical or Structural Engineering and 10 years overall experience in design of structures or electrical power systems including 8 years of experience in design of high voltage transmission lines for utilities in the U. S. and 5 years of supervisory experience in providing technical guidance to project staff on complex projects or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience.

Additional:

  • Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER software.

  • Familiarity with NESC.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in all areas of HV transmission line design including preparing and reviewing project design criteria, structure loading trees, plan and profile drawings, and other construction documents.

  • Extensive knowledge of transmission line hardware, assemblies, guying, anchoring and construction methods.

  • Working knowledge of transmission line design and construction requirements and a history of delivering high quality work products in a project team environment.

  • Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a U. S. Citizen or legal permanent resident (Green Card holder).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering license in any State in the U. S. with the ability to get licensed in other States by comity is highly preferred

  • MS in Electrical or Structural Engineering

  • Field experience on transmission line projects
